It's official

It's officially official. I have spring fever. What to do? Uh....Wander about in the woods and wax poetic about flower porn? See, I'm out of my mind. I came across this amazing photo of the self-pollinating Calla Lily and became slightly obsessed about it. I started a poem, still in progress, sort of....(I'm much too impatient with poetry).

Here's the Friday challenge if you wish -- write me a poem from this same Flickr photo set -- or feel play with mine! (Yes, I meant that in the naughtiest way possible). What do all of those sexy plant parts do to you?

Calla lilies making love

Light dipped veins pulse gold
Trembling rain-wetted anthers kiss
Parts become the whole

Breathe deep the musk of needle duff
And lust dampened loam
Attraction is inflorescence

Botanical phytochemical healing
Swelling into fruit and seed
Want and need inseparable

Clouds bloom white on sepia on cyan
Tongue to fingertip, calf to pelvis
Shamelessness rules this kingdom

Rise to meet the petal-tongued bracts
Twisting into smoldering earth
Melting out of aching

Hi Robin,

I can't wait to see your poem -- after it's all duffted off!

Hey EllaRegina! Thanks -- let's hear it for flower power. I agree -- nothing says spring like an orgy of fucking gnomes!

Well, it's not the next Friday, so hope this doesn't come too late.
